Volunteer trail-building opportunity, Helper, UT

Description

The Cretaceous Seaway is calling!!

After years of work, property exchanges and negotiations with State agencies new access to a world-famous outcrop of a wave-dominated shoreface in the Blackhawk Formation, near the mouth of Price Canyon (Gentile Wash), has received a “green light” for purposes of geologic study.  In order to facilitate this new access, a couple of short stretches of new trail need to be constructed.

Please meet on April 27th, Saturday, at the Historic Helper Main Street Park (just south of the Post Office, see included map) at 10 AM, where we will car-pool to the trailhead.  Bring a lunch and your favorite trail building tool(s).  Gloves, sunscreen, and water will be needed as well.  We plan to work on two principle sections of the trail until mid-afternoon.  Call Paul regarding car-pooling from the Wasatch Front.

If you have not experienced the charm of the town of Helper, plan to spend the night and enjoy this renewed historic coal-railroad mining town and nuevo-art center.
