Talk Abstract: Despite an appetite for scientific information and a variety of accessible platforms, intense public skepticism and mistrust of science persists.  The need for communicating science effectively with the public is a critical skill that many scientists lack due, in part, to the educational framework that trains scientists. How can we as geoscientists better relay our findings and the Earth’s fantastic stories with the public in an engaging and effective manner? Learn how outreach efforts by a community college geology professor grew from local projects to an international audience along with tips to consider when engaging with the public in your role as a scientist.
